History Of UCA (Catholic University of Argentina)
The history of UCA started in Buenos Aires,Argentina with a catholic university that was created in 1910 but it used to have some problems and at the end it had to close.
In 1922 some graduate students started some courses of catholic culture. Some years later the argentine bishops' episcopate took this experience of the courses and in discussions about the superior education and the universities of private administration. The argentine bishops' episcopate decided and helped with the creation of UCA university in february of the year 1956 because Religion used to be the more important in that age in Argentina's society and also they had the power. And in march seventh of 1958 it was declared officially founded by them.Throughout the entire time it has existed, it has had different principals and it was used to have as principals monsignors
Monsignor Dr.Octavio Nicolás Derisi was the first principal of the university since 1958 to 1980. In that period of time it was characterized by the consolidation of the teaching, the education and the extension.
The second one was Mons.Guillermo Blanco from 1980 until 1994.He made the consolidation of the academic programs and he also integrated new programs.
Fray Domingo Basso became new principal of UCA since 1994 to 1999 and during his time as principal he started the transfer to Puerto madero because UCA used to be just in Buenos Aires and society needed more universities with the purpose that more people get access to superior education.
In 1999 again someone of the church was principal in this case Mons.Alfredo Seca who tried to adapt to the changes that were happening in that period of time.
Since december of 2009 Mons.Victor Fernández began his term as a principal. The last principals did not used to talk with the students but Victor Fernandez started to take into account the opinion of students who made part of UCA's university and he increased the public presence of UCA, the spirituality and the attention to social problems that were happening in the University or in the country. UCA principals was not used to participate in those things.
"Most of the principals of the UCA university have been people who belong to the church"
Since 1965 faculty of Teresa de Ávila opened its doors located in Paraná. Uca's university is a university that is present in different parts of the country giving access to education to a lot of people of the country and integrating knowledge with the different realities that this country is going through.
